Oakland Contemporary & Street Art Gallery
Located in the heart of New Brighton’s independent Victoria Quarter, Oakland Contemporary and Street Art is the latest addition to regeneration company Rockpoint Leisure’s portfolio of hospitality and retail concepts.
The 1103 sq.ft gallery space exhibits a mix of contemporary art, alongside pieces from artists heavily involved in the global street-art scene.
The only cultural outlet of its kind in the North West of England, the gallery is part of a wider street art initiative which has to date seen more than twenty-five works of art appear on interior and exterior walls around the Victoria Quarter.
The street art is a primary pillar in Rockpoint Leisure’s regeneration plans, reviving the neighbourhood, with artwork by both local and established global street artists including Dotmasters, Ben Eine, Fanakapan, Mr Penfold, Snik, Insa and Nomad Clan.
As part of Rockpoint’s continuing plans to breathe new life back into the area, a dedicated website and free walking tour has been launched to encourage visitors to the buzzy, little neighbourhood, which is making a big name for itself on the national and international street art scene.
Maps are available for visitors to tour the area and each artwork is fitted with a metal plaque which includes a QR code and visitors can find our more about the mural and its artist by scanning with their smart phone; and will be instantly taken to the New Brighton Street Art Tour website.
Oakland Gallery has partnered with leading creative studio Our Types, for the inaugural opening show, which will feature original works and prints by Ben Eine, Dotmasters, Mr Penfold, Tom Blackford, Matt Dosa, and Mr Penfold, alongside 3D pieces by Populuxe.
Further collaborations are planning with Our Types over the coming twelve months.
Oakland Gallery is opening with the Private View on the 1st October
